Kathryn’s roommate had some kimchi, and she brought it into the common room where we were all studying and opened it so we could smell it. (She was trying to explain that the smell was why people don’t like it.)

I was all, “Oh, that’s not so bad. It just smells like Bowater (paper factory) back home which smells like really strong, perhaps rotten, cabbage.”

"That’s what it is! Pickled cabbage."

"Ahaha, well."

It actually tasted pretty awesome.

But then again, I am excessively fond of cabbage in the first place.

Thank you, Bowater, for allowing me to easily identify the smell of pickled cabbage. I knew it’d come in useful someday.

I’m sure the residents of Calhoun appreciate it just as much as I do.
